Donegal County Council is a multi-purpose body with responsibility for the delivery of an extensive range of services within County Donegal, and for creating and maintaining an economic and social development framework in the county.
The Community, Culture & Enterprise Directorate consists of two divisions (Community and Enterprise and Cultural Services). The Directorate is engaged in a wide range of activities in all parts of the County in supporting community development, economic and enterprise development, local government and local development integration and in the provision of a range of services in the cultural and arts areas.
The Division provides executive support to a range of community led initiatives; it also provides on-going advice, support and direction at a local level to community groups with regard to availability of and accessing funds or supports for various local initiatives.
The Council are delighted to be represented on the board of directors of Cairde le Cheile and fully support the work of the group in the renovation of the old church on the grounds of St. Conal’s Hospital. The Council were proud to nominate Cairde le Cheile to the Pride of Place Awards in 2005 hosted by Co-operation Ireland and they were successful in securing 2nd place in their category.
